Janus Rasmussen
Born in the Faroe Islands and primarily active in Iceland, Janus Rasmussen has developed a path that sits between minimal techno, ambient and electro-pop. Based in Reykjavik’s music ecosystem, he was initially part of the Icelandic band Bloodgroup before forming the duo Kiasmos with Ólafur Arnalds in 2009, an electronic project presented on international stages and festivals. In 2013 he also launched Byrta with Guðrið Hansdóttir, an electro-pop duo singing in Faroese that extends another aspect of his songwriting. Alongside his collaborations, Rasmussen works as a producer, songwriter, musician and mixer for artists on the Icelandic scene. His first solo album, Vín, released in 2019, consolidates this trajectory in a more personal form, featuring restrained electronic music built on steady pulses, acoustic textures and a strong sense of progression. He continued the solo strand with Vín Remixes in 2019, several singles released between 2020 and 2022, and collaborations such as Wirbel with David Bergmüller in 2023.
