Karnivool

Karnivool is an Australian progressive rock band formed in Perth in 1997, composed of Ian Kenny, Drew Goddard, Mark Hosking, Jon Stockman and Steve Judd. The band established itself with a sound that blends complex structures, massive riffs, rhythmic precision and a keen sense of melodic progression. Their debut album Themata (2005) laid the foundations for powerful, architected rock, followed by Sound Awake (2009), a pivotal record that confirmed their ambition and their place in the modern prog landscape. In 2013, Asymmetry further expanded their palette with a bolder approach that plays on contrasts and textures. Karnivool cultivates an approach where technique serves the songwriting, avoiding gratuitous showmanship in favor of organic, intense construction. The band enjoys a strong live reputation, and their influence extends well beyond Australia, leaving a lasting mark on the international progressive scene.
