Jacob Collier
Born in London in 1994 into a family of British musicians, Jacob Collier first came to attention in the early 2010s with online videos of covers and polyphonic arrangements in which he layered voices and instruments in a highly visual format. A multi‑instrumentalist and singer, Collier has developed an oeuvre at the crossroads of jazz, pop, R&B and choral music, marked by dense harmonies, frequent metric changes and a taste for collective vocal architectures. His debut studio album, “In My Room”, was released in 2016 and established the basis for largely self‑produced work, continued by the “Djesse” cycle — a series of four volumes issued between 2018 and 2024 that respectively explore chamber‑music atmospheres, orchestral acoustic textures, electronic pop and song‑oriented formats. Alongside his solo projects, Collier occasionally collaborates with artists from jazz, pop and film music such as Herbie Hancock and Hans Zimmer, and translates his experiments in collective arranging to the stage, from expanded solo concerts to band tours on international stages.
