Vulfpeck
Vulfpeck is an American band formed in 2011 in Ann Arbor by four musicians from the University of Michigan School of Music: Jack Stratton, Theo Katzman, Joe Dart and Woody Goss. The idea for the project came when Jack Stratton read an interview with German producer Reinhold Mack: he imagined Vulfpeck as a fantasized German version of the American studio musicians of the 1960s. The members played together for the first time at the Duderstadt Center, where they recorded 'Beastly', uploaded in April 2011. From the outset the quartet took an independent approach, releasing records on their own label, Vulf Records, and regularly collaborating with guest artists both onstage and in the studio. Between 2011 and 2014 Vulfpeck built their artistic foundation with four successive EPs, then continued with a series of notable releases: Thrill of the Arts (2015), The Beautiful Game (2016), Mr Finish Line (2017) and Hill Climber (2018). In 2019 the band recorded a concert at Madison Square Garden, a symbolic milestone in their rise. After a short hiatus, Vulfpeck returned with Schvitz in 2022 and Clarity of Cal in 2025, maintaining a steady, coherent trajectory more than a decade after their beginnings. From early videos to international tours, Vulfpeck has followed a model based on autonomy, rotating collaborators and a collective method that has remained consistent over the years.
