Madison Cunningham

Straddling indie folk, alternative rock and melodic pop, Madison Cunningham develops songwriting centered on guitar and voice, nourished by sophisticated harmonies and introspective lyrics. Born in Orange County, California, and active from an early age in churches and small local venues, she gradually established herself on the Los Angeles scene before gaining national recognition. After several self-produced recordings, her first major milestone came with the 2019 album Who Are You Now, which set out a sound blending folk, ’90s rock influences and subtle touches of jazz. Cunningham followed with Revealer in 2022, where the writing grows denser, driven by elaborate rhythmic structures and a more assertive guitar approach. Present on the North American folk and indie scene, she has appeared on Chris Thile’s Live From Here and toured with artists such as Andrew Bird and the Punch Brothers, while developing a repertoire in which the song form remains central, from spare ballads to more electric compositions.
