Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters is an American rock band formed in 1994 by Dave Grohl following the end of Nirvana, for which he had been the drummer. Born from a solo project recorded almost entirely by Grohl, the band quickly expanded into a full-fledged outfit, propelled over the years by a distinctive live energy and a constant penchant for incisive melodies. Their self-titled debut was released in 1995, followed by The Colour and the Shape (1997), often regarded as a decisive turning point in their trajectory. The 2000s cemented their prominence with There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999), One by One (2002), and In Your Honor (2005), then Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007) and Wasting Light (2011), recorded in analog in Grohl’s garage. The lineup evolved around the core of Grohl, Nate Mendel, and Pat Smear, while incorporating over time Chris Shiflett, Taylor Hawkins — who passed away in 2022 — and Rami Jaffee. The band continued with Sonic Highways (2014), Concrete and Gold (2017), Medicine at Midnight (2021), and But Here We Are (2023), marked by a more intimate tone. For more than two decades, Foo Fighters has held a central place in the history of modern rock thanks to uncommon continuity, a rich discography, and an immediately recognizable identity.
