Iguana Death Cult

In Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Iguana Death Cult have been developing a taut rock sound since the early 2010s that blends garage, psychedelia and post-punk with touches of surf and indie pop. Built around vocals and nervy guitars supported by a compact rhythm section and incisive keyboards, the band emerged from the Dutch alternative scene before embarking on numerous tours across Europe and beyond, playing clubs and festivals focused on rock and contemporary music. Their first studio album, “The First Stirrings of Hideous Insect Life,” was released in 2017 on Geertruida and is marked by raw energy and brisk compositions; they refined their songwriting on 2019’s “Nude Casino” for US label Innovative Leisure, giving more space to repetitive grooves and a stronger sense of melody. In 2023 Iguana Death Cult continued this trajectory with “Echo Palace,” also on Innovative Leisure, emphasizing post-punk and psych influences while consolidating a sonic identity built on sharp riffs, sometimes nearly motorik rhythms, and lyrics often drawn from current events and urban everyday life. Through these releases and numerous club dates, the band has embedded itself in an international network of contemporary rock acts committed to a direct, electric and slightly dissonant aesthetic.
