Igorrr

Under the name Igorrr, French musician Gautier Serre has been developing since the mid-2000s a project that intersects breakcore, extreme metal, baroque music, industrial electronics and operatic singing. Launched as a solo project to allow him to compose without format constraints, Igorrr first released the demos Poisson Soluble in 2006 and Moisissure in 2008, followed by the albums Nostril in 2010 and Hallelujah in 2012. His music assembles chopped rhythms, sudden accelerations, riffs drawn from black and death metal, neoclassical passages and vocals that alternate between operatic register and distortion, in a writing style that emphasizes contrasts rather than a smooth fusion of genres. Over the years Igorrr has broadened his scope with the EP Maigre made with Ruby My Dear, the group Whourkr, and then Corpo‑Mente with Laure Le Prunenec. The project also took on a band dimension on stage, accompanying the releases Savage Sinusoid in 2017 and Spirituality and Distortion in 2020. Igorrr has also composed for film, notably part of the score for Bruno Dumont’s Jeannette, l’enfance de Jeanne d’Arc, and performs both on metal stages and at more cross‑genre festivals such as Roadburn, Hellfest, Dour and Montreux Jazz.
