Kesha
Born in Los Angeles in 1987 and raised in Nashville, Kesha (Kesha Rose Sebert) has carved out a place in American pop by blending dance‑pop, electropop, and hip‑hop elements, before gradually incorporating rock, country, and folk influences. After years working as a songwriter and backing vocalist in Los Angeles studios, Kesha gained notice in the late 2000s through her appearance on Flo Rida’s single “Right Round,” then released her debut album, Animal, in 2010, swiftly followed that same year by the EP Cannibal. Her second album, Warrior (2012), accentuated the rock elements while remaining anchored in a direct, high‑energy pop format. Beginning in 2014, Kesha’s career was shaped by a lengthy legal dispute with her producer, leading to a recording hiatus before her return with Rainbow in 2017—an album with more autobiographical writing and pronounced rock and country tones. She followed with High Road in 2020, alternating uptempo tracks and ballads, then Gag Order in 2023, produced with Rick Rubin, marked by a more introspective tone. On stage, Kesha employs a vocal approach that shifts between pop singing and rap‑like phrasing, performing regularly across North America and Europe while engaging in one‑off collaborations with artists such as Pitbull, Zedd, and Macklemore.
