Flo Rida
Born in Carol City, Florida, Tramar Lacel Dillard, better known as Flo Rida, emerged on the U.S. rap and pop-rap scene, heavily shaped by R&B and dance. After starting out with the GroundHoggz collective and making several appearances across Southern hip-hop in the mid-2000s, Flo Rida signed with Poe Boy Entertainment and later Atlantic, launching a solo career geared toward mainstream radio and clubs. His debut album, Mail on Sunday (2008), established his blend of melodic rap and sung hooks, soon followed by R.O.O.T.S. (2009), whose productions incorporated more electro and pop textures. He continued with Only One Flo (Part 1) in 2010, a tighter, singles-driven set, then Wild Ones in 2012, which cemented his path between hip-hop, EDM, and mainstream pop, featuring numerous collaborations with European and North American female vocalists and producers. The My House EP (2015) extended this approach with highly radio-friendly tracks, solidifying Flo Rida’s position at the crossroads of rap, pop, and club music.
