Mars Red Sky

A trio from Bordeaux formed in the late 2000s around Julien Pras and Jimmy Kinast, Mars Red Sky plays psychedelic heavy rock that sits between slow stoner, massive riffs and dreamlike atmospheres. Driven by a heavily saturated guitar, a tight rhythm section and a clear vocal often set against the weight of the instruments, their sound fuses 1970s rock heritage with doom touches and indie influences. The band drew attention on the French, then European scene with the album “Mars Red Sky” (2011), before refining their approach on “Stranded in Arcadia” (2014) and “Apex III (Praise for the Burning Soul)” (2016), which introduced longer structures and a darker tone. With “The Task Eternal” (2019) and “Dawn of the Dusk” (2023), Mars Red Sky continues to explore melodic psychedelic stoner, appreciated both in small venues and at specialised festivals.
