The Devil and the Almighty Blues

Born out of Oslo’s rock scene, the Norwegian band The Devil and the Almighty Blues belongs to a lineage of heavy blues rock that blends psychedelic, doom and 1970s rock influences. Formed in the early 2010s by musicians from the local scene, The Devil and the Almighty Blues settled into a quintet format centered on slow, tensioned guitar work, a massive rhythmic foundation and dark vocals—equally heir to traditional blues and heavy rock. Their self-titled debut (2015) established an aesthetic of long tracks built on repetitive riffs and gradual buildups; this approach was further developed on II (2017) and Tre (2019), which refined the mix of electric energy, melancholic melodies and more psychedelic atmospheres. Active on club and festival stages across Norway and Europe, The Devil and the Almighty Blues is part of the contemporary stoner and heavy-blues network while maintaining a pronounced grounding in slow blues songwriting focused on tension and group dynamics.
