Power Trip

Formed in Dallas in 2008, Power Trip developed a crossover thrash that blends the attack of thrash metal with the directness of hardcore punk, featuring tight riffs, fast tempos and straightforward songwriting. Around singer Riley Gale, the Texas quintet first made a name for itself on the underground circuit with Demo 2008, Armageddon Blues in 2009 and the Power Trip EP in 2011, before releasing their debut album Manifest Decimation in 2013 on Southern Lord. Power Trip then refined their approach with Nightmare Logic in 2017, a denser record where the band better articulates thrash speed, heavy groove and shouted choruses, leading them to play both hardcore and metal stages, notably alongside Exodus, Obituary and Lamb of God. In 2018 Power Trip compiled some of their early recordings on Opening Fire: 2008-2014, and in 2020 they released the live album Live in Seattle: 05.28.2018. After Riley Gale’s death that same year, the band’s future was uncertain until they resumed concerts in late 2023 with Seth Gilmore on vocals, alongside long-standing members Blake Ibanez, Nick Stewart, Chris Whetzel and Chris Ulsh.
