Amaranthe

Born in Gothenburg in 2008 under the name Avalanche, before adopting Amaranthe in 2009, the project coalesced around guitarist Olof Mörck and vocalist Jake E, with Elize Ryd among the founding members. Amaranthe’s particularity lies in a three-vocal setup, combining female clean vocals, male clean vocals and extreme (harsh) vocals over a base where metalcore, melodic death metal, power metal, symphonic metal and pop-crafted choruses intersect. From Amaranthe (2011) and The Nexus (2013), the band developed a formula built on sharp contrasts between aggressive passages, melodic vocal lines and very contemporary production. The discography continued with Massive Addictive (2014), Maximalism (2016), Helix (2018), Manifest (2020) and The Catalyst (2024). Amaranthe’s story is also marked by several lineup changes, notably the arrival of Nils Molin as the clean male vocalist in 2017 and Mikael Sehlin for the harsh parts in 2023. Active on the modern metal circuit in Europe and beyond, Amaranthe has also punctuated its career with targeted collaborations, such as Angela Gossow and Jeff Loomis on the track “Do or Die” in 2020.
