Arion
Formed in Helsinki in 2011, Arion develops a melodic metal that blends power metal, symphonic influences and strongly sung choruses, with a marked use of orchestral arrangements. The band drew attention as early as 2013 when they took part in Finland’s Eurovision selection with the song "Lost", which sped up the release of a first album, "Last of Us" in 2014, still carried by Viljami Holopainen's voice. After a change of singer and the arrival of Lassi Vääränen, Arion slightly reoriented its writing toward a more modern sound while keeping the power and symphonic foundations — an evolution noticeable on "Life Is Not Beautiful" (2018) and "Vultures Die Alone" (2021). Arion’s music rests on the contrast between rhythmic guitars, very present keyboards, direct vocal lines and more atmospheric passages, with lyrics that address personal and existential themes. Arion multiplies tours across Europe in the contemporary metal circuit and occasionally collaborates with other artists, notably singer Elize Ryd on the track "At the Break of Dawn", gradually establishing the Finnish band on the international power metal scene.
