Bear’s Den

Formed in London in 2009 around Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones, Bear’s Den initially established itself in an indie folk vein with Americana and alternative country influences, with a marked taste for vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars and expansive melodic writing. The band began to attract attention in the early 2010s through several EPs, followed by sustained live activity in Europe, the United States and Australia, notably alongside Ben Howard, Daughter, Mumford & Sons, Smoke Fairies or Matt Corby. Their first album Islands appeared in 2014, followed by Red Earth & Pouring Rain in 2016, where Bear’s Den broadened its spectrum with denser production, between folk rock, atmospheric pop and more assertive arrangements. After Joey Haynes left in 2016, Bear’s Den continued as a duo and released So That You Might Hear Me in 2019, then Fragments with Paul Frith in 2020, a project of orchestral reinterpretations of their repertoire. Blue Hours, released in 2022, extends this evolution toward a sound that is broader and more introspective, without breaking with the folk foundation of their beginnings. In the same year, Bear’s Den also scored the soundtrack for Trying: Season 3. In 2023 the EPs First Loves and White Magnolias were released. In 2025, Kevin Jones left the project, leaving Andrew Davie as the sole permanent member of Bear’s Den.
