Blanco White
Under the name Blanco White, Josh Edwards has developed a solo project in London that sits between folk, understated pop and neofolk, shaped by his musical training in Spain and Bolivia. Before launching Blanco White in 2014, he studied flamenco guitar in Cádiz and later discovered traditional Andean music and the charango in Sucre — two influences that left a lasting mark on his songwriting. His music combines English-language vocals, acoustic guitars, flamenco motifs and Latin American colours within a spare, melodic song format. After a first concert under this name in London in 2015, Blanco White released the EPs The Wind Rose EP (2016), Colder Heavens (2017) and Nocturne EP (2018), gradually establishing this hybrid aesthetic. He toured Europe and the United States before issuing his debut album, On the Other Side, in 2020. Blanco White continued to strike a balance between intimate folk and broader arrangements with the EP Time Can Prove You Wrong (2023) and the album Tarifa later that year. The name Blanco White refers to the Spanish poet José María Blanco White.
