FJAAK

Based in Berlin, the techno project FJAAK emerged in the late 2000s in the Spandau neighborhood around Felix Wagner, Aaron Röbig and Kevin Kozick, before refocusing on the duo Wagner/Röbig. FJAAK initially developed within a local scene shaped by free parties and Berlin clubs, then quickly expanded to an international circuit of venues and festivals. Musically, FJAAK combines direct, percussive techno with elements of breakbeat, house, jungle and sounds inspired by 1990s rave aesthetics, favouring a physical, energetic approach to sound. After several maxi singles released in the mid-2010s, notably on the 50Weapons label, the group issued its first full-length album, simply titled “FJAAK”, in 2017 on Monkeytown Records, followed by “Havel” in 2019, which established a broader palette between club tracks and more atmospheric pieces. Alongside their productions, FJAAK highlights a visual and sonic identity centred on Spandau, launched the Spandau20 label to release their own output and that of close artists, and remains associated with a live performance culture where improvisation and tempo variations play a central role in shaping their sets.
