Fat White Family

Emerging from Peckham in south London in the early 2010s, Fat White Family occupies an English rock vein that mixes post-punk, garage rock, art rock and psychedelia, with songs often tense, ironic and deliberately dissonant. Centered on singer Lias Saoudi — the sole member to remain at the project's core despite numerous lineup changes — the band first grew within London’s alternative scene before releasing Champagne Holocaust in 2013, a debut marked by lo-fi textures and rough guitars. Songs for Our Mothers (2016) pushed a darker, more direct tone, enlarging the role of keyboards and sharper, more acidic songwriting. With Serfs Up! (2019) Fat White Family broadened its palette further, incorporating touches of pop, disco and more sophisticated arrangements while retaining its rock roots. Forgiveness Is Yours (2024) continues this evolution in a renewed form. Over the years band members have also intersected with several side projects — notably Moonlandingz, Warmduscher, Insecure Men and Decius — underscoring a sound that combines punk tension, oblique grooves and a melodic quest.
