Goat Girl
Formed in southern London, Goat Girl initially followed a post-punk vein powered by dry or abrasive guitars, a voice often detached and a writing style that blends social observation, irony, and melodic tension. The group originally comprised Lottie Pendlebury, Ellie Rose Davies, Naima Bock, and Rosy Jones, before bassist Holly Mullineaux joined in 2019. Goat Girl made a name for themselves on the London scene, notably around the Windmill in Brixton, then signed to Rough Trade in 2016 and released several singles before their self-titled debut album in 2018. The record laid the foundations for a jagged, sometimes rough sound, between British indie rock, post-punk, and garage touches. With On All Fours in 2021, Goat Girl markedly broadened their palette by incorporating more psychedelic textures, looser arrangements, and a less front-facing approach, without abandoning their taste for oblique atmospheres. The third album, Below the Waste, appeared in 2024 and continued this evolution toward a more atmospheric writing, where art rock, indie rock, and experimental accents still intersect. Through touring and festivals, Goat Girl has maintained a strong anchor in the British alternative scene while evolving the band's form toward a more open language.
