Allen Stone
Born in 1987 in Chewelah, Washington, Allen Stone grew up in a religious household, sang at an early age in his father's church (his father was a pastor), and discovered gospel before turning to soul and R&B. Based in the Pacific Northwest, he came to prominence in the early 2010s through self-organized tours and the online release of tracks like “Unaware,” which placed him in a strand of contemporary soul inspired by the 1960s–1970s. His debut album, “Last to Speak” (2010), was followed by “Allen Stone” (2011), where he honed a blend of soul, R&B, pop and folk touches, and then by “Radius” (2015) and “Building Balance” (2019), which continued this work around prominent vocals, warm grooves and personal lyrics. Allen Stone notably collaborated with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on the track “Neon Cathedral” and tours regularly in the US and Europe, before presenting in 2021 “APART,” an acoustic project that revisits several of his songs in more stripped‑down versions.
