Erol Alkan

Born in London in 1974 into a Turkish Cypriot family, Erol Alkan emerged on the British nightlife scene in the late 1990s with Trash, a London night where indie rock, electroclash and club culture intersected. As a DJ, producer and remixer, Erol Alkan developed a style situated between house, techno, dark disco and indie dance, featuring often-psychedelic melodic lines and a highly rhythmic approach to mixing. His remix work for artists from both rock and electronic backgrounds reflects this crossing of scenes, while his sets have established him firmly in clubs and festivals across Europe. He later founded the label Phantasy, conceived as a space for electronic music that is at once danceable, oblique and melodic, releasing his productions and those of artists close to that world. At the same time he formed the duo Beyond the Wizards Sleeve with Richard Norris, a project oriented toward a meeting of psychedelic pop, ambient and dance music, documented notably by the album The Soft Bounce in 2016. Over the years he has also worked in the studio with bands such as Klaxons and Ride.
