Digitalism
Born in Hamburg in the early 2000s, Digitalism brings together producers Jens Moelle and İsmail Tüfekçi with a hybrid approach that blends club culture and indie energy. The duo made a name for themselves with a string of maxi singles on the French label Kitsuné—including “Zdarlight” and “Idealistic” in the mid‑2000s—that placed Digitalism’s signature between electro house, indie dance and sounds close to electronic rock. This aesthetic crystallized on their debut album Idealism (2007), built from instrumental tracks crafted for the dance floor alongside vocal songs. With I Love You Dude (2011) Digitalism emphasized pop structures and melodies while keeping a direct, rhythm‑driven writing style, as the single “Circles” demonstrates. The third album Mirage (2016) moved further toward melodic techno and more atmospheric textures, followed by club‑oriented EPs like Lift (2016), 5KY11GHT (2018) and JPEG (2019). Active both live and in DJ sets, Digitalism has moved between clubs and major festivals across Europe, North America and Asia since the beginning, maintaining a sound identity centered on song structures, pronounced bass and compressed synths.
