Cassius

Cassius is a French electronic music duo made up of Philippe Cerboneschi, known as Philippe Zdar, and Hubert Blanc-Francard, known as Hubert Boombass. As a leading act of the French Touch movement, Cassius formed in the 1990s and contributed to several MC Solaar albums («Paradisiaque», «Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo»). Before adopting the name Cassius in 1998, the duo performed as La Chatte Rouge and then La Funk Mob. The release of the track “Breaking Boundaries” in 1995 helped raise their profile, and they were soon contacted by artists such as Björk and Depeche Mode. The duo played club nights and concerts, and immersed themselves in house music through their work with club artists. In 1999 Cassius released their debut album, «1999», which was a strong success. Despite a promising start, the duo’s second album, «Au rêve» (2002), lost momentum. They bounced back with their third album, «15 Again» (2006), taking a successful pop-rock turn and featuring guests like Sébastien Tellier and -M-. Continuing to perform at club events, Cassius also released the album «I <3 U So» in 2011 on their own Cassius Records label. In 2013 they got the capital dancing with club nights at venues such as Wanderlust and Social Club and also appeared at Les Eurockéennes and the Big Festival.
