The Coronas

Formed in Terenure, in the south of Dublin, The Coronas brings together Danny O’Reilly, Graham Knox and Conor Egan around melodic rock that moves between indie rock, pop rock and alternative rock. The band formed in the early 2000s and established itself first on the Irish live scene, notably in Dublin, before gradually expanding its activity to the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and Australia. The Coronas developed a format of direct songs, powered by clear guitars, a flexible rhythm and writing that favors choruses and clean arrangements over showy embellishments. Their discography begins with Heroes or Ghosts in 2007, followed by Tony Was an Ex-Con in 2009, Closer to You in 2011 and The Long Way in 2014. After this first period, the band continued its evolution with Trust the Wire in 2017, True Love Waits in 2020, Time Stopped in 2022 and Thoughts & Observations in 2024. Longtime organized as a quartet, The Coronas then continued as a trio after the departure of guitarist Dave McPhillips in 2019. Remaining independent for a large part of its career through its own structures, The Coronas maintains a regular place in the Irish pop-rock landscape while sustaining a strong live presence.
