Skerryvore
Born in the Inner Hebrides, Skerryvore formed in the early 2000s around brothers Daniel and Martin Gillespie, initially as an island dance group before settling in Glasgow and developing a wider touring activity. Emerging from the Scottish scene, Skerryvore blends Highland traditional music, contemporary folk and melodic rock, with a sound built around the bagpipes, accordion, fiddle and an electric rhythm section. The first album West Coast Life was released in 2005 and laid the foundations of a repertoire rooted in reels and jigs, while On The Road (2007) and the self-titled Skerryvore (2010) accompanied the band's move toward more song-based formats. With World of Chances (2012) and Chasing The Sun (2014), Skerryvore incorporated pop, country and Americana touches without abandoning the structure of instrumental sets. The lineup, which grew into a larger ensemble, performs regularly on British folk and Celtic stages as well as across Europe and North America. The albums Evo (2018) and Tempus (2023) confirm this evolution toward an increasingly hybrid sound, in which Scottish tradition remains central to Skerryvore's identity.
