Paddy Casey
Born in Dublin, Paddy Casey belongs to an Irish songwriting tradition that blends acoustic rock, folk, soul and melodic pop, with a writing approach focused on voice and guitar. After taking up the guitar at 12, he spent many years busking before being noticed on Dublin’s singer-songwriter scene—particularly at the International Bar—which led to a deal with Sony in the late 1990s. His debut album, Amen (So Be It), was released in 1999; recorded quickly, he performed much of the instrumentation himself, with Mundy guesting on “Winter's Fire.” He followed with Living in 2003 and Addicted to Company (Part One) in 2007, an album developed between Los Angeles and Ireland with George Drakoulias and Pat Donne. After that period Casey moved in a more independent direction and increasingly recorded from home, resulting in The Secret Life Of... in 2012. His discography also includes the compilation Songbook (The Best Of Paddy Casey) from 2014. Over the years he has shared tours or stages with R.E.M., Ian Brown, Ani DiFranco, The Pretenders, U2 and KT Tunstall.
