Angine de Poitrine
Under the name Angine de Poitrine, Klek and Khn de Poitrine have been an instrumental duo from Quebec since 2023, whose writing sits between experimental rock, math rock, angular post‑punk and a repetitive, mechanical approach that, in its construction, is close to certain forms of techno. Angine de Poitrine arranges its pieces around the accumulation and subtraction of short motifs, with drums that have a matte, precise sound, microtonal guitar and bass lines, and chromatic phrases that create subtle tensions within often asymmetric structures. Without recourse to vocals, the duo favors movement, variation and rhythmic displacement, producing music that is at once tight, jolting and danceable. Angine de Poitrine released Vol. 1 in 2024 and quickly circulated on Quebec stages, with appearances at festivals such as the Festival international de jazz de Montréal. This recent trajectory places Angine de Poitrine in a space where the energy of rock combines with a more minimal, evolving approach to repetition.
