Brett Young

Born in Anaheim, California, Brett Young initially pursued college baseball before an injury redirected him toward songwriting and singing, a turning point that shaped the start of his career. Later based in Nashville, he developed a contemporary country sound strongly influenced by pop, featuring predominantly acoustic ballads, melodic choruses and a restrained vocal delivery, in an aesthetic close to American country-pop of the 2010s. After independent releases early in his career, including Brett Young in 2007 and On Fire in 2011, he joined the Nashville circuit and released a self-titled EP in 2016 before his first studio album on Big Machine, Brett Young, in 2017. His discography continued with Ticket to L.A. in 2018, Weekends Look a Little Different These Days in 2021 and Across the Sheets in 2022. Throughout his career, Brett Young has been part of a mainstream country scene attuned to radio formats while maintaining songwriting focused on relationships, nostalgia and sentimental narratives, with occasional collaborations, notably duets, that extend his melodic vein without changing the overall direction of his style.
