Dan + Shay

Born in Nashville from the meeting of Dan Smyers, originally from Pennsylvania, and Shay Mooney, from Arkansas, Dan + Shay formed in the early 2010s around a shared songwriting approach that blends contemporary country, country-pop and pop influences with soft rock and R&B. The duo quickly made their mark on Nashville’s country scene with the single “19 You + Me” and their debut album Where It All Began (2014), followed by Obsessed (2016) and Dan + Shay (2018) — an album that broadened their sound toward a smoother, more melodic production highlighted by prominent vocal harmonies. They went on to release Good Things (2021), Bigger Houses (2023) and It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album (2024). Their career has included appearances at the Grand Ole Opry, tours with Hunter Hayes, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Thomas Rhett, Rascal Flatts and Chris Young, and performances in larger venues. Dan + Shay have also crossed into pop through collaborations with the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Justin Bieber on “10,000 Hours” (2019), and Charlie Puth (2023), while keeping their songwriting focused on ballads, big choruses and a country style designed to bridge country radio and adult pop.
