1tbsp

Behind 1tbsp is Maxwell Byrne, an Australian producer based in Brisbane who also records as Golden Vessel. Launched in the late 2010s from DJ sets linked to the Sumoclic Nights parties, 1tbsp allows him to explore a distinct register between indie-house, melodic house and danceable electronic pop, characterized by supple rhythms, prominent basslines and frequent use of guest vocalists. 1tbsp released a first EP, kanashī, in 2021 on Sumoclic, followed by Joan in 2022 and It’s Very Loud in 2023, before the debut album Mosquito Love appeared later that year. The project then expanded through new singles and collaborations, in a format conceived for both the club and domestic listening. Among 1tbsp’s collaborators are Nick Ward, Allan McConnell, Squidgenini, Sampology, Mietze Conte and Jai Piccone. On stage, 1tbsp initially moved within the Australian circuit with appearances at BIGSOUND, Listen Out and SXSW Sydney, before extending dates to North America.
