Mathieu Des Longchamps

Born in Montreal, Mathieu Des Longchamps spent his early years in Panama before growing up in Paris — a trajectory between Latin America and Europe that permeates his music. Initially drawn to the harp, percussion and piano, he turned to the guitar in his teens, attended the American School of Modern Music in Paris and continued his training in Buenos Aires, where he also studied tango. That period included life on the road and street performances, notably in Uruguay, followed by a stay in Cadaqués, Spain, where he began to shape his personal repertoire. His project fits within the French chanson tradition, nourished by folk, acoustic pop and Latin inflections, with a taste for spare melodies, flexible rhythms and songwriting focused on movement, intimate ties and the memory of places. Mathieu Des Longchamps later moved into a professional framework by signing with Polydor/Universal, while retaining a songwriter’s aesthetic marked by travel, cultural blending and a direct relationship between voice and guitar.
