Voyou

Born in Lille in 1989 and having spent his adolescence in Nantes, Thibaud Vanhooland began playing the trumpet at an early age before becoming a multi-instrumentalist. Initially a bassist in several Nantes bands, including Elephanz, Rhum for Pauline and Pégase, he launched a solo career in 2017 under the name Voyou, after briefly using the pseudonym Voyov. Voyou builds a French chanson open to pop, with clear melodies, brass arrangements and songwriting that blends intimacy, urban landscapes and rhythmic lightness. After the EP On s’emmène avec toi in 2018, Voyou released the album Les Bruits de la ville in 2019, then Les Royaumes minuscules in 2023. His discography also includes the EPs Des confettis en désordre (2020), Chroniques terrestres (Vol.1) (2021) and Seul (2024). Voyou has appeared in several collaborations, notably with Yelle, November Ultra and Vanessa Paradis, while maintaining a regular presence on French stages and festivals. In 2024 Voyou took part in the Printemps de Bourges as part of a collective tribute to Françoise Hardy, before releasing in 2025 Henri Salvador est un voyou, an album of covers largely devoted to lesser-known songs by Henri Salvador.
