Greg Freeman
Based in Burlington, Vermont after growing up in Bethesda, Maryland, Greg Freeman develops songwriting anchored in alt-country, with songs that cross folk rock, guitars sometimes rough and a direct narrative approach. Greg Freeman first emerges on the Burlington indie scene, where his playing sits in an environment marked as much by traditional American music as by a more abrasive indie rock sensibility. His first album, I Looked Out, appeared in 2022 on Bud Tapes, before being reissued in 2024 via Canvasback Music, which broadens his visibility beyond the local circuit. In his songs, Greg Freeman works with sparse or denser arrangements depending on the track, with a calm voice and a sense of tension that sometimes brings his universe close to melancholic and slightly noisy country rock. His career also builds on the live scene, in formats where the intimacy of the lyrics remains central despite a band energy. In 2025, Greg Freeman releases Burnover, his second album that extends this line between American tradition, indie rock and contemporary alt-country, without a sharp rupture but with a more expansive production.
