On 20 September 2026, Freak Slug lands at Rough Trade East in London for a live set built around Amulet, the new album. Behind the name is Xenya Genovese, a fine-arts-trained artist who treats songs like scenes: voice, image, narrative, and iconography all moving together. If you’ve come across her early releases, from Videos to Viva La Vulva, you’ll recognise the way she threads pop hooks through internet codes, generational references, and a kind of sharp, funny autofiction.
This show is a chance to hear that universe in its most direct form. After pushing further into live performance in recent years, Freak Slug brings her collage-like writing and tactile, body-aware energy off the screen and into the room, letting the songs from Amulet sit alongside the tracks that first mapped out her world.
