Info
Gary Numan lands at The Piece Hall, Halifax, on 31 July 2026 for a night tracing the arc of his electronic vision. From the post-punk spark of Tubeway Army to the stark synth minimalism of The Pleasure Principle and Telekon, he helped shape the early language of synth-pop with tracks like Cars and Are ‘Friends’ Electric?. In the 1990s his music shifted toward denser, industrial hues, a path he continued on Sacrifice, Pure, Splinter, Savage and Intruder. On stage, these chapters meet: cold neon melodies, weighty rhythms and that unmistakable voice, threading sci-fi unease with intimate tension.
Very special guests Ladytron open with their precise, beat-driven pop. Formed in Liverpool, the band balance crystalline hooks and motorik electronics, with the twin voices of Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo, parfois en bulgare, jouant sur les contrastes. Their set draws from 604 and Light & Magic through Witching Hour, Velocifero, the self-titled return and Time’s Arrow, where new wave synths brush against shoegaze haze and indie grit. A cool, taut build-up that sets the scene for Numan’s circuitry at The Piece Hall.
