Morrissey
Morrissey is a major figure in British pop, regarded as one of the most influential lyricists of his generation. First known as the singer of The Smiths, he upended the musical landscape with only four albums, propelled by cult tracks such as 'This Charming Man', 'How Soon Is Now?' and 'There Is a Light That Never Goes Out'. As a solo artist he has built a notable discography of thirteen studio albums, all reaching the UK top 10, including three number ones, and landmark singles like 'Suedehead', 'Everyday Is Like Sunday', 'Irish Blood, English Heart' and 'First of the Gang to Die'. Awarded an Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding contribution to British music, Morrissey remains a central voice over the past four decades. In 2024 he received the Social Vanguard Award, recognising his long-standing commitment to animal rights. His work—marked by dark romanticism, provocation and melodic elegance—continues to influence many artists and sustain a particularly loyal international fan base.
