Peaches

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Peaches, born Merrill Nisker in 1966, first developed a rock and folk project under her birth name in the 1990s before turning to a more radical electronic aesthetic. Moving to Berlin at the end of the decade marked a turning point with the emergence of an electroclash sound combining minimalist rhythms, abrasive synths, punk heritage and hip‑hop borrowings, carried by blunt lyrics about gender, the body and sexuality. The first album under the name Peaches, The Teaches of Peaches, was released in 2000, followed by Fatherfucker (2003), Impeach My Bush (2006), I Feel Cream (2009) and Rub (2015), which continue her work between direct electronic pop, club energy and performance‑adjacent formats. Occasional collaborations with artists such as Gonzales and Iggy Pop have accompanied this trajectory, as has a steady presence on alternative stages across Europe and North America. Alongside her music, Peaches develops stage and audiovisual projects—most notably the show and film Peaches Does Herself—which reflect her interest in hybrid forms between concert, theatre and performance art.
