I almost called this show "Pleasure." Then I thought the only pleasures people would associate with such a title would be those forbidden to under‑18s. Since, for financial reasons, I want under‑18s to be able to attend my show as well, I called it "Delicious": it’s a family show.

In an hour and fifteen minutes I will try to untangle the complexity of what provokes pleasure in human beings. Of course pleasure can come from a glass of chasselas that you linger over on the lakeshore in spring. But it can also be caused by the death of someone you don’t like. Of course an unexpected promotion at work brings joy. But so does eating gruyère in Gruyères, or knowing—when you’re French—that you don’t pronounce the “z” in Étivaz (which allows us to relish correcting all the fools who make that mistake). My aim is that this show will provoke in you a certain pleasure, a mise en abyme as delightful as eating gruyère in Gruyères.
