Samuel Bambi
French actor and stand-up performer Samuel Bambi, born Samuel Dijan, trained early on in café-theatres and at open-mic nights, beginning stand-up at 17. He first made his mark as one half of the duo he formed with Younès under the title L’Arabe et le Juif, a show that gradually established both Younès and Bambi on the French comedy scene and notably caught the attention of Jamel Debbouze. From 2013 Samuel Bambi joined the Jamel Comedy Club troupe and took part in the collective show Pensionnaire de la troupe du Jamel Comedy Club at the Théâtre du Gymnase, firmly placing him within the new generation of francophone stand-up. At the same time he developed his acting work in theatre with roles in Jean III ou l’irrésistible vocation du fils Mondoucet in 2006 and La Ronde des Sentiments in 2012, before appearing on television in the comedy series Commissariat Central in 2016. His writing mixes everyday observation, cultural dissonance and character work, in a vein influenced by artists such as Gad Elmaleh, Elie Kakou and Raymond Devos, and served as the basis for his move toward solo stand-up projects.
