Ben Plg

Born in Villeneuve-d’Ascq in 1992 and raised in Tourcoing, BEN plg — real name Thomas Léger — has developed a French rap rooted in reality from northern France, at the crossroads of street rap, introspection, hardcore rap and more melodic touches. He began rapping in 2012 under the name Ben l’Oncle Rap, later shortened his stage name and eventually adopted BEN plg, a reference to his 2019 project Pour la gloire. After several early releases, including Saucisses Merguez (2013), Saucisses Merguez Musique (2015) and the EP Couilles de Loup (2017), BEN plg honed a direct, precise writing style informed by his social and urban experience. His debut album Dans nos yeux was released in 2020, followed by Parcours accidenté in 2021. In 2022, his appearance on Nouvelle École coincided with wider exposure, boosted notably by the track Mauvaise nouvelle and the EP series Réalité Rap Musique. He went on to release J’rêve mieux qu’avant in 2023, Dire je t’aime in 2024 and Paraît que les miracles n’existent pas in 2025. Along the way, BEN plg has also shared songs with Bekar, Georgio, Niro and Zed Yun Pavarotti, and has built his live reputation through opening slots and the independent rap circuit.
