G Flip

Born in St Kilda and based in Melbourne, G Flip launched a solo project from 2018 after several years working as a drummer and backing vocalist in various local bands, beginning to write independently in a home studio. Their music sits between pop, indie pop and pop rock, with a strong emphasis on rhythm — live drums, synths and crisp choruses — in a format that combines stage energy with very personal songs. G Flip first drew attention with the single “About You,” uploaded to Triple J Unearthed in 2018, followed by “Killing My Time,” and soon started playing outside Australia, including at SXSW. This initial phase led to the album About Us in 2019, featuring nervy, melodic pop, and to Drummer in 2023, a more upfront record shaped by rock aesthetics and live performance. G Flip wrote and co-produced all the tracks. In 2025 G Flip continued this evolution with Dream Ride, a third album that further broadens the project’s pop palette. A multi-instrumentalist, G Flip also collaborated with Ariel Rechtshaid on “I Am Not Afraid” and appears alongside Troye Sivan on a live version of “In A Dream,” while remaining closely connected to the Australian scene.
