Greyhaven

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Greyhaven occupies an American scene where post-hardcore, progressive metalcore and mathcore heritage intersect. Formed in the early 2010s, the band first gained attention on the local indie circuit with the EP Cult America in 2013, which established the groundwork for a jagged sound marked by sudden tempo shifts. Signing with Equal Vision preceded the release of Empty Black in 2018, Greyhaven’s debut album, which features dissonant guitars, extended song structures and an alternation between screamed and more melodic sung vocals. The subsequent tours anchored Greyhaven on US club and mid-size stages, moving between niche festivals and opening slots for heavier acts. With This Bright and Beautiful World in 2022, the band accentuated the contrast between aggressive passages and more atmospheric sequences, incorporating hues of alternative rock while retaining a technically rooted metalcore foundation. Overall, their trajectory emphasizes the evolution of sonic textures and rhythmic writing rather than the pursuit of standardization.
