Big Truck
Laurie Vincent is developing Big Truck alongside his work in the English duo SOFT PLAY, with a more melodic and more open approach, built alongside his longtime friend Sam Coppins and a tight-knit group including Asa Thallon and Justin Myles. Based in the United Kingdom, Big Truck sits in an indie rock and indie pop register where clear and nervy guitars cross with broader arrangements, with writing that maintains a direct and everyday tone. The project moves away from the frontal tension associated with SOFT PLAY to favor songs with more nuanced contours, between alternative pop, a slightly offbeat romance and textures that evoke as much melodic post-punk as British pop of the 1980s. Big Truck threads through its tracks sober choruses, shimmering guitar lines, and a kind of ironic distance in the lyrics, without losing a trace of roughness. According to available information, Big Truck marks above all a new step for Laurie Vincent, where he explores a more collective band format and a balance between rock immediacy, a sense of melody, and more cinematic atmospheres.
