Walt Disco

Formed in Glasgow, Walt Disco brings together several musicians from the Scottish scene around a project where post-punk, art rock, glam and alternative pop intersect in a theatrical yet direct writing. The band drew attention in the late 2010s with a series of singles and EPs that establish an aesthetic marked by sharp guitars, melodic keyboards and a particular attention to staging emotions, between nervous tension and dark romance. Walt Disco then develops a broader format with the album Unlearning in 2022, in which one finds both the heritage of British rock and new wave textures, as well as more open choruses. The band's trajectory sits within a circuit of venues and festivals linked to the new British independent scenes, while asserting an increasingly clear visual and musical identity. In their most recent tracks, Walt Disco evolves their language toward alt-pop and brighter dance-rock, without abandoning this mix of contained drama, melodic momentum and questions about identity, the relationship to the body, and the instability of daily life.
