Pecos & the Rooftops

Formed in Lubbock, Texas, Pecos & the Rooftops belong to the West Texas country-rock scene, following in the wake of red dirt and a sometimes rougher-edged southern rock. Led by singer-songwriter Pecos Hurley, the band builds its songs on direct songwriting, thick electric guitars and a steady tension between country ballad, road-rock and darker melodies. Pecos & the Rooftops began reaching beyond the Texas circuit with the track "This Damn Song" in 2019, and expanded their presence through touring on the American country scene. The group's aesthetic remains tied to a clear regional grounding, but their approach also draws on alternative rock instincts, with emphatic choruses and denser arrangements than traditional country. Between slow numbers, more urgent tracks and narratives shaped by themes of breakup, alcohol and romantic disorder, Pecos & the Rooftops develops a formula located at the crossroads of rock band and Texan country songwriting.
