La Fève

Born in the 20th arrondissement of Paris and raised in Fontenay-sous-Bois, La Fève, real name Louis Ambroise Germain, established himself from the late 2010s in a generation of French rap nourished by trap, cloud rap and references from Atlanta. Of kinokongo and Cameroonian origin, he first develops his music on SoundCloud, where series Nocturnes, Paresse and compilations Empty the Bin, drawn from tracks cut from his main projects, circulate. His short writing, his flexible phrasing and his use of sober refrains fit into a minimalist aesthetic, with airy or drier productions depending on the tracks. La Fève also produced part of his music in his early days under another pseudonym, before refocusing his identity around rap. The ERRR project, released in 2021, marks a scale change and more widely establishes his name on the Francophone scene. In 2023, the album 24 extends this direction with a trap more open to exchanges between French rap and American influences, notably including collaborations with Knucks, Tiakola, Yung L.A. and Zaytoven. In 2024, La Fève releases the mixtape BIGLAF then Empty the Bin Vol. 4, while appearing on several tracks alongside artists of his generation or already established rappers.
