Makala
Originally from Geneva, Switzerland, Makala emerged on the francophone rap scene in the mid‑2010s, standing out as part of the collective Superwak Clique alongside artists such as Di‑Meh and Slimka. Coming from the Colors Records ecosystem in Romandy, he drew attention with a string of projects that blend francophone rap and trap with funk and soul influences, marked by a taste for cinematic atmospheres and pop references. His first full‑length album, Gun Love Fiction (2018), established an aesthetic in which street narratives coexist with an offbeat imagination, while Radio Suicide (2020) expanded the idea of a fragmented narrative universe built around sequences and tempo shifts. With Chaos Kiss (2022) he continued this approach, playing more on contrasts between introspective pieces and more direct tracks. On stage Makala mainly performs in clubs and festivals in Switzerland, France and the francophone world, delivering a rhythmic and melodic rap that alternates spoken passages, hummed hooks and vocal play, supported by dense productions often soaked in warm bass and synthetic textures.
