Kaz James
Born in Melbourne in 1982 as Christopher James Karyotakis, Kaz James is an Australian singer, songwriter and DJ of Italian and Greek descent whose work sits between alternative dance, electronica and house. Before his solo career he was active on the Australian club scene and served as a resident at OneLove in Melbourne while performing internationally. In 2004 he formed the duo BodyRockers with British musician Dylan Burns; their repertoire blended house, funk rhythms, rock guitars and pop hooks, gaining rapid attention with the single 'I Like the Way' in 2005 and the album BodyRockers released the same year. After the duo split in 2007, Kaz James continued under his own name with a sound more directly focused on dance music and electronic pop. He released the album If They Knew in 2008, notably preceded by 'Breathe' with Stu Stone and followed by 'We Hold On', and the EP Can't Hold Back in 2009 with Macy Gray. In 2014 Kaz James appeared alongside David Guetta on 'Blast Off', a collaboration that reinforced his grounding in melodic, vocal house crafted both for the club and the single format.
