HotLap
Launched in the United Kingdom at the end of 2024, HotLap brings together producers and songwriters Chris Mears and Joris Mur around an electronic repertoire that sits between afro house, Berlin‑style minimal, melodic house and melodic techno. The HotLap project relies on crisp textures, supple club rhythms and emotionally tinged melodic lines, in a format designed as much for listening as for the dancefloor. Prior to HotLap, both musicians were already working in writing and production for other artists: Chris Mears contributed to Meduza’s “Bad Memories”, Tiësto’s “All Nighter” and Vintage Culture’s “This Feeling”, while Joris Mur co‑wrote “Goodbye” with Goodboys and Imanbek, Alok’s “Rapture”, as well as “This Feeling”. HotLap continues that trajectory by focusing it into a shared identity, nourished by the European house and techno scene and by studio collaborations with names such as Claptone, Alok and Matroda, along with several voices from the pop and dance circuits. Since its launch, HotLap has also started to take the project on stage with dates in Turkey, Morocco, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
